Description
The Mushbox rye grain jars are pre-sterlized and sealed with an injection port in the lid making it easy to peel back the foil and start the inoculation with a multi-spore syringe or edible culture syringe. Rye grain is one of the most common and popular substrates to use and is included in most of our mushroom kits.
 
Start spawning from almost any variety of mushroom with these jars. Made with strictly organic rye grain (berries) using precision process we have developed over the past 10 years.  Every substrate product is backed by the Mushbox Guarantee.
 
Once the rye grain has colonized with the mushroom species of your choosing you then spawn this mycelium to another substrate like shredded wheat straw, compost or manure mixture creating a robust substrate base from which you would case beautiful and pure organic mushrooms.
 
Rye grain is a reliable and easy to use substrate for growing mushrooms and works with almost any edible / exotic strain of mushroom.  It is important to do your research before committing to a particular substrate so please make sure you pick the right one for the particular species you want to grow.

Works for me every time
I love using rye for getting nice cakes, then case it to straw and within 30 days I am picking huge mushies. I have tried several other methods and this way works the fastest with little effort.

grain is the way to grow
Using rye grain is one of the oldest methods for growing mushrooms. As long as it is sterilized correctly and injected with quality spores it will work every time.
