Description
This substrate is a favorite among mushroom enthusiasts because of its small grains that create many inoculation points that allow mycelium to colonize quickly. It is also very easy to break apart and mixes well with other substrates or casings to create a healthy bed of mycelium. Each bag approx. 6 cup portion and is capable of spawning up to 12 quarts of straw or compost when fully colonized.
 
This substrate product works excellent with any of our other mushroom growing kits and systems.  It is possible to fruit mushrooms directly inside the bag but you will get bigger and much more fruits when mixing with a casing or other substrate.
 
There is a variety of different mushroom species that work very well with wild bird seed substrate, this makes it very cost effective and easy to use.
 
The video shown below is for the Rye Grain Bag but the inoculation and incubation process is indentical so you can use this video as well.

Bird seed all the way
I have always used WBS for my mushroom growing projects and it works best. To each there own though I have lots of friends who swear by rye grain but I always get best results with the bird seed.
